New Delhi: The Prime Minister's Office on Friday clarified that the government of India did not spend any taxpayers' money on Sonia Gandhi's treatment or foreign trips. Even as Arvind Kejriwal was alleging large scale property acquirement by her son-in-law Robert Vadra, PMO issued a brief statement denying Narendra Modi's claim that Rs 1880 crore were spent on Sonia Gandhi.

The PMO statement said: "The PMO would like to put on record that the Government has incurred no expenses on UPA Chairperson's visits abroad."

"It is further clarified that the Government has not borne any expenses for UPA Chairperson's medical treatment abroad and in India."

"During the last 8 years only one trip to Belgium undertaken at the invitation of the Belgian Government to receive a national honour. It was paid for by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. The total cost was less than Rs 3 lakhs."
