But his innings is cruelly cut short two short of a well-deserved half-century, when he edges a Yuvraj delivery and is caught behind by his Indian counterpart Dhoni. Lankans look in some trouble with the score at 122-3 in 28 overs.
Yuvraj's golden arm has done the trick once again this tournament -- Sanga's all-important scalp is his 14th wicket of the World Cup. Considering his contribution with the bat, he's the one to watch for the Man of the Series trophy.
Thilan Samaraweera joins Jayawardene as the former skipper racks up another vital half-century. They need to stay put in the middle for a while if Lanka must to get to a competitive score.
