According to STAR News-Nielsen exit poll, Punjab is locked in a close contest between the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party (SAD-BJP) alliance and the Congress. However, the Congress is ahead by a narrow margin. The SAD-BJP alliance is likely to get 56 seats while the Congress can win 58 seats.
